Privacy Policy

Oya is built so that we cannot see your data — not "we promise not to look," but "there is nothing for us to look at." This policy explains what that means in practice.

What we collect

Nothing. Oya has no account system, no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no server that stores user data. We do not collect, receive, sell, or share your reminders, your usage, or your identity.

Where your data lives

Your reminders are stored in a local database on your device only. They are never uploaded anywhere by Oya. If you delete the app, its data is deleted with it.

Notifications

Oya's nudges are local notifications, scheduled on your device by iOS. Notification content never leaves your device. Oya may receive an anonymous, contentless "silent push" signal (via Apple's push service and Firebase Cloud Messaging) that helps iOS keep future reminders scheduled; this signal contains no personal data and is not tied to your identity.

Purchases

Subscriptions and free trials are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of that data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.

What we don't do

• No account or sign-in — we don't know who you are.
• No cloud sync or server-side storage of reminders.
• No third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
• No sale or sharing of personal data with anyone.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA give you the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you, and to object to its sale. Oya holds none: there is no account, no server-side record, and no data collected to access, export, or delete. Your reminders already live only on your device and are entirely under your control — you can view, edit, or erase them at any time in the app, and deleting the app removes them completely. We do not sell or share personal data, because there is none to sell or share.

International users

Oya has no server that stores your data, so nothing is transferred across borders or processed in another country. Your reminders stay on your device wherever you are.

Do Not Track

Some browsers and devices send a “Do Not Track” signal. Oya has nothing to honor or ignore here — it does not track you across apps or websites under any circumstances.

Links to other services

Oya relies on Apple (for the App Store and notification delivery) and Firebase Cloud Messaging (for the contentless wake-up signal described above). Their handling of any data is governed by their own privacy policies — see the Apple Privacy Policy and the Firebase Privacy and Security notice. Oya is not responsible for the practices of services we do not operate.

Children's privacy

Because Oya collects no personal data, it does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Since the app's design makes data collection impossible, any change toward collecting data would be a fundamental product change, clearly announced.
